Abbotsford, BC-based Sapphire Sound has announced the addition of Brian Cloutier (pictured above) to its team in the lighting design and sales department.
“We are very excited to have Brian join our staff with his many years of experience and connections,” says Sapphire Sound President Harold Wiens. “He brings many opportunities to a market section that we are excited to continue our growth into.”
Beginning his career as a light man for bar bands in Ontario, Cloutier’s expertise in lighting and theatrics spans three decades. In the 1980s he started his own lighting company as the designer and board-operator for small tours and bigger nightclubs, offering lighting and special effects for CBC rock videos and fashion shows in his downtime.
Through the 1990s Cloutier worked in Ottawa doing work for the Government of Canada, including custom lighting for Caucus rooms, Privy Council, Memorial Room, and re-designing the lighting in the House of Commons Chamber, which is still in use today.
In 2007 he moved to Surrey, BC and helped grow companies' western sales departments. He has worked in many roles, including production, manufacturing, architectural, live events, and lighting design.
“I strive to learn more about this ever-evolving industry and stay ahead of the curve,” Cloutier says.
Joining the team as Lighting Design and Sales, Cloutier will focus on working with the theatrical community and other sectors to provide lighting solutions that exceed expectations while also meeting budget restraints.
Sapphire Sound provides audio, multimedia, lighting, and control services to professional and commercial clients across Western Canada.
“I’m excited to join this team, it’s a match made in heaven,” said Cloutier. “This is the most exciQng move I’ve made since moving to BC!”
