CITT/ICTS Provides Overview of 2021 Events & Member Activities

In the CITT/ICTS' (Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology / Institut canadien des technologies scénographiques) January 2021 news letter, the organization's president Matt Frankish (pictured) addressed the membership with an acknowledgement of the production industry's dormant state while also issuing a call to action, stating "there are significant issues in the culture of backstage work that this pause has given the industry the opportunity to change... We can use this time to identify challenges and work to address them in a meaningful and sustainable way."

Accordingly, the organization has laid out its agenda for the coming months, with a variety of events and activities slated to progress Frankish's goal of ensuring that the theatre community "comes out the other side of this crisis not just functioning, but better than we were."

The CITT/ICTS has outlined its upcoming events as follows:

CITT/ICTS Members Check-ins:
Started back in May 2020, the CITT/ICTS Member Check-in, like the name says, is about checking in with industry members, and making sure that no one feels alone and isolated. We do believe that, even though we are physically apart, we are all in this together. These monthly meetings are about how you are really doing and how we can, as an organization, provide a true sense of community. Check our event calendar on the CITT/ICTS website for future dates.

CITT/ICTS Industry Roundtables:
CITT/ICTS hosts two monthly online roundtable discussions in collaboration with PMArts & TDArts; the Education Roundtable and the Re-opening Roundtable. These meetings have proven to be much appreciated, with a steady attending rate and lively discussions held amongst educators, students and professionals from all spheres of the live performing arts industry. Everyone interested in adding their voice, sharing ideas or just attend, is welcome. Audio recordings of past discussions are available on the CITT/ICTS’s Upcoming Meetings & Roundtables web page.

Starting in April 2021, CITT/ICTS will host a series of online TEC Talks. These are short educational seminars presented by industry experts on diverse subjects ranging from copyrights obligations for live streaming to event liability insurances in a post-pandemic world. Stay tuned for more information!

CITT/ICTS Rendez-vous 2021 - Stay Connected - Restons connectés:
The next edition of CITT/ICTS’s annual conference Rendez-vous will be held online, August 9 to 12, 2021. Just like the 2020 edition, it is shaping up to be a promising mix of lively roundtables and panel discussions on current topics related to the industry along with compelling educational sessions as well as the corporate New Product Showcase.
